ZOI JOHANSSON - MELANCHOLY

Vernissage 20 August · Open 21 August - 12 September

New location! Vattugatan 13 Stockholm

In the exhibition Melancholy, artist Zoi Johansson invites us into a profound borderland between time and matter. With an artistic background from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and Konstfack in Stockholm, Johansson combines an artistic depth with a unique craftsmanship.

By working with an ancient lime plastering technique, she gives the exhibition a raw, tactile, and physical body. The works carry a vision of timelessness and are created to endure. The idea is that life is not linear, but circular – like a ring dance. We do not move towards a definitive end, but in eternal cycles where life is constantly reborn. This circular philosophy becomes clear in the ancient idea of Bugonia, the myth of how new life is born out of decay.
